Hello,

Please check out this survey that is investigating stray cats within Central Auckland. This research aims to better understand the attitudes of people, including cat owners, stray cat carers, and the general public, towards stray cats and to collect accurate GPS locations and abundance of stray cat colonies within Central Auckland. This study is purely investigative, and there is no intention to interfere with or remove any cats. Please be assured that specific locations of the cat colonies will not be published in any public media.

You can share your opinions and knowledge in this short survey: survey.zohopublic.com...

Please note: It is recognised that not all stray cat carers are comfortable sharing exact colony locations. Therefore, the questions in the survey on the exact locations of the colonies have been made optional so that you can still provide other information, including health status and opinions.

If you are looking for something easy, fun and FREE to do this holidays with the kids…… or without, try Heard Park in Parnell.
For the winter season an illuminated installation called “Mountain of Light” has been brought to life. This sculpture consists of stunning columns that form a giant pyramid shape and not only do they change colour but they flow through different tone and saturation intensities. This sculpture photographs most beautifully (in my opinion) just before dark.
Poppy and I were lucky enough to stumble across the installation in perfect time for FREE hot chocolate with marshmallows on a chilly Friday night last week!
If you missed out last Friday, a company called The Tin Man will be there for another two Fridays (16th and 23rd July) handing out delicious hot drinks to lucky park goers from 5pm - 7:30pm.

Was anyone else lucky enough to make it last Friday or any other night to take some great images?
Pretty sure we will be back!

Please join us for a community day, planting native trees in the forest at Western Springs Lakeside Te Waiōrea.

We'll start at 9.30am, rain or shine. Bring some closed-toe shoes, weather-protective clothing, a bottle of drinking water, and a spade and gloves if you have them.

Protect our parks from kauri dieback: Bring only clean footwear and equipment with you.

Meet us on the north side of the lake beside the weir (about 40 meters west of the public toilets).

Your hard work will help to grow this urban ngāhere (forest), creating new habitat for native birds and other wildlife in the park.

After the planting, stay and get to know others from the community and join us for some free kai!

If you would like to help out, please RSVP with the Community Liaison Team by emailing westernsprings@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz or clc@kotahiprojects.com or calling 0272678818
