This is a notice to inform you all that the Balmoral Fire Station is closed today due to a lack of staff. This is currently a nation wide issue caused by FENZ not recruiting enough staff.
Some firefighters are working in excess of 100 hours a week to keep fire appliances available, but it is a continuous struggle to protect you the public and also spend time with family.
Fire and Emergency NZ do not pay enough to attract new staff and with the cost of living increasing, the staff we do have are either moving out of Auckland, or leaving the job all together.

I notice from their images there is no sign of the lovely traditional park benches and they look to be replaced by concrete slabs and wood blocks.
Why do this? Traditional park seats like that are comfortable, sensible, well placed and no doubt were very expensive. I think it would be a shame to lose the existing seats.
Also, I hope the fishing tables and hoses stay as well as these get a huge amount of use.
