And a huge congratulations to Meg Wilson - the founder of PAWS (Pet Animal Welfare Shops) across South Waikato! Meg's passion for pets received almost 20% of votes which has seen her walk away with a prize package worth $10,000 to support the work she and her team of volunteers do each day.

For the Kaipātiki Local Board area, it means that we'll be losing around 112 bins from parks, streets and bus stops.🤦 It's a crazy situation when many of our bins don't get emptied often enough now.😡
Council staff have suggested removing the bins marked with red dots on the attached map and if we want to save one, we need to sacrifice another...
Local Board members will be giving feedback on this proposal. Please let us know what you think.

If you have a ready-made small group, we can schedule an hour to suit you, at a cost of $90 for the group.
Otherwise, email or message us your availability and interests, and we will see what can be organised.
From requests we have had so far, the focus for a tour could be
- efficient and effective control and eradication of environmental weeds without chemicals, especially kikuyu (beyond the mown area, which is controlled by mowing)
- free wild native groundcovers and leafy shrubs
- how to recognise the free native tree seedlings which pop up in your garden or restoration site
Our website has some information and photos of all these, with more to come.

Fair enough on the lady she was not from the council it was just a Job. Only food waste can be put in the bin but my rabbit eats Grass so therefore it is a food waste, how about the left over grass from your spilolina! or your now dead basil plant! cannot be put in the bin.
Can anyone say if the apartment blocks in Takapuna each resident get a bin ?
Okay you say this will save so much waste going to landfill while our food scraps will be transported to Reparoa 276 Kms away.
The council still have not worked out away to dispose of Restaurant waste that still goes to landfill and all those disposable coffee cups they still go to landfill!!

When it comes to material and overall quality, these are commensurate with more expensive options. But they are less in size thus the irresistible price. :)
