My cleaning customer not far from me here in my suburb of Te Atatu South, has a rather handsome, healthy, thick-furred adult black boy cat hanging round his house. My customer said he was thinking of having him put down! I said no - it'd be a shame to put him down - he's so beautiful and healthy! This black boy cat is the son of my customer's now-desexed, formerly stray female cat he's adopted - he is quite a bit larger than his mum already, but still tries to hide behind her when we come near! My customer will get a photo of this black boy cat when he can. =D We think the boy cat is desexed (one of his neighbours may have had the cat desexed, but we don't think she or anybody actually owns him - he is rather skittish but will eat cat biscuits left out). He is becoming gradually less and less afraid of humans, he even sat on the deck a couple of metres away (with the sliding door closed), watching me vacuum the lounge, and he hangs around his mum (who just came in for a pat today - she's become a lot tamer already, and may be teaching him that humans are ok) a lot, so I think there is hope that he could become a good pet. =D

This is the 2nd time this has happened and ive only been here 5 months. Its so frustrating as the truck wont take it and I only put my rubbish out fortnightly, like the recycling, as i dont have alot.

There has to be a better method??
Maybe a QR or bar code on our bins they could scan and we just pay for it online?
Any advice about how i could stop ppl from stealing my sticker wud be grt.
Thanks Mandy

Most of us have sadly experienced that heart stopping & soul destroying moment when we have lost a loved one.
This is made 100% worse when we try to sort out the ‘messy’ particulars of the paperwork trail that we must do and also trying to find something to cling to in order to retain the memories.

Please talk with your husband, wife, son, daughter, your extended loved ones, your friends and discuss what they want you or whomever they designate, to do with their social media pages, their mobile phone, and their email and don’t forget their bank accounts.

Most people have all of their photos & videos on their social pages as well as their mobile phones.

There are important emails and messages that could be lost forever if nothing is done.

The stories we’ve read when someone has died after an illness or an accident and they couldn’t access their loved one’s mobile phone to get the photos or videos.

They are enough to make any cry every last tear in your body knowing that you will never see those precious memories again.

There can be so many un-nerving and un-necessary pains & stresses that we all go through after a loved one has passed on, that could be avoided or made easier if something so simple was in place before the unspeakable act happens.

So to (hopefully) avoid any of this, please talk to your loved ones and ask them to either give you their passwords to the various platforms, so you (or whomever they have designated) can retrieve them after they have gone.
Or, they can put them in their will so they are there after they have gone.
PLEASE MAKE A WILL!!!

Also, you can speak to your telco provider and ask them if they can save all the text messages and voice mails for you. I know that a couple of them will be more than willing to this for you, with proof of death of course.

The banks are a little bit trickier, they can be the hardest ones to deal with – so online access is something to seriously consider because without this, it could take a wee while to access any funds in your loved ones accounts, even with proof of death.

So many of us don’t think twice about this as we hope our loved ones or even ourselves will live forever, however, this is something I cannot suggest strongly enough:

PLEASE GET ALL THE PASSWORDS FOR EVERYTHING – don’t lose all those wonderful memories for ever!!

PLEASE MAKE A WILL with specific instructions and passwords to all of your accounts on social media, bank, email and especially your mobile phone.

IRD dishes out more than $80m in first week of automatic tax refunds

The deputy commissioner of transformation, Greg James, said the automated system, which went live on 26 April, is "exceeding expectations". On Thursday alone, the new system catered for over 500,000 logins on myIR, almost double the number recorded prior to switching to the new system. He said the old system would not have coped with that number. "We were creaking and groaning at around 260,000 and at these sorts of levels, it really would have struggled. "We are now starting to see really high demand and a lot of self-service in the new channels," he said, "which is what we are looking for. "Our latest release hasn't been without its wrinkles and that's to be expected with a transformation of this size and scale," Mr James said. "Tax agents, in particular, are playing a valuable role in letting us know when something isn't happening as they would expect. We're grateful for that contribution and we're trying to be as responsive as possible in making any enhancements or adjustments." In its first week, 247,379 automatic assessments were issued, including 178,457 refunds and 29,080 bills to pay. The total value of refunds paid out so far was $83.3m and there were bills to pay worth $10.4 million. Mr James said more batches will go out each week between now and the end of July, when the process will be completed. "We're really encouraged to see so many customers are able to get on with their business," Mr James said. "I think we have a great platform to keep developing and making improvements so New Zealanders continue to get the world class tax system they deserve."

I was going to post this in my group - 'Handy' hints, tips & great ideas:
www.neighbourly.co.nz... - but thought that this is too good not to share with everyone.
Just on a side note, this is also perfect for the elderly and anyone incapacitated. My friend who fosters severely handicapped children, has done this with all of her foster children and they absolutely love it and have thrived so much.
With technology moving faster than ever now, how about donating your iPods to a family member or a friend to make a personalised music list for their loved one.
Music and memories walk hand in hand with one another. These little iPods with a personalised play list on it, will help tap into deep memories that maybe lost and maybe for a period of time, bring them 'back to life'.
Thus, allowing them to feel like themselves again, maybe even to converse if they can and socialise while staying present.
This has to be a simple and very easy gift to give anyone who is sick or confined to their bed or wheelchair.
I was going to suggest donating them to the old folk's homes etc ... but there are (sadly) far too many light fingered people out there.
