Deferment of rates payment without penalties
======================================
Under normal circumstances if your recent rates invoice was not paid in full by 28 May 2020 a penalty payment would be applied to any outstanding balance. However, if you are experiencing financial difficulties, contact the council to arrange payment by smaller installments, or defer payment of the full amount, until 31 August 2020 without attracting penalties. All registered ratepayers who require financial assistance and support at this time may apply. Here are some examples of how you can demonstrate that you are experiencing financial hardship:
Business ratepayers
=================
In receipt of government wage subsidy
In receipt of government-guaranteed business loan
Tax payments deferred by IRD
Residential ratepayers
==================
Is a participant of the mortgage repayment holiday scheme
Has lost their job or had a substantial reduction in income
To apply please go online here or call us on 09 301 0101.
You will need your name, full address of the property for which you are applying and your rates assessment number.
You will not need to upload evidence of your financial hardship in order to apply, but we may request this from you at a later date.
If you pay your rates by direct debit, you can apply to suspend your payments until 31 August 2020.
Please note this deferment scheme:
=============================
is in addition to existing payment plans already offered to ratepayers.
does not include any outstanding payments and penalties incurred prior to 25 March 2020. In addition, the following support is available for residential ratepayers:
Rates postponement policy
=======================
The council has a rates remission and postponement policy allowing residential ratepayers who meet certain criteria to postpone payment of their rates until a specified event such as the sale of their property. Detail on eligibility and conditions available in this document.
Rates rebate scheme
==================
Rates relief of up to $640 is available for those on incomes below a specified level through the government’s rates rebates scheme. Go here for details of eligibility and conditions.
Accommodation Supplement
========================
The Accommodation Supplement is the Government’s primary assistance for accommodation costs, including for homeowners seeking help with their rates payments. People do not need to receive a main benefit to be eligible for the accommodation supplement. For information on eligibility and to apply for the accommodation supplement you can contact Work and Income either its website at or call 0800 559 009.
More information
==============
If you are facing difficulties paying your rates, call us on 09 301 0101 and staff will be happy to provide further information on these options.

Combined with physical distancing, this means things are a little slower right now and it is taking longer to get your parcels to you. Most of our parcels are being delivered within two to three working days but in some cases, we are seeing delays of up to five working days (and a little longer with some international parcels). While we’ll continue to pull out all the stops to get your parcels to you as quickly as possible, we expect this volume to continue over the coming weeks, so there will be ongoing delays. We know that the parcels you’re waiting for are important to you. Our expanded contact centre teams are working overtime and doing everything they can to answer your queries as quickly as possible. Please help us out by checking our FAQs first if you have any questions and only call us if your parcel has been delayed longer than five working days. Rest assured that while there may be a delay, we will get your parcel to you as soon as we possibly can.
Here are just some of the things we’re doing to make sure Kiwis get their parcels:
=========================================================
***11 sites across the country processing 24/7
***All possible warehouses across the country sorting and processing
***Approximately 200 extra vehicles
***Parcels delivered 7 days a week
***An additional 3,000 containers to transport parcels around the country
***Teams delivering hundreds of thousands of parcels some days

The student association AUSA had been working with the university to come to an agreement and are "stoked" with the outcome. Are you a student or have a student at home? What do you think about this?

Jacinda Ardern said Cabinet agreed New Zealand was ready to move into Level 2 in order "to open up the economy but to do it as safely". On Thursday May 14, retail, malls, cafes and restaurants, cinemas and other public places can open. "You can begin to move around New Zealand," Ms Ardern said. Schools will be able to open on Monday, May 17. On Thursday May 21, bars will be able to open. Bookings will be limited to less than 10 people, as are parties. "Don't let your gatherings go over 10," Ms Ardern said. Level 2 will be reviewed in two weeks. Ms Ardern acknowledged the sacrifices the country had made over the last six-and-a-half weeks over the lockdown period. "But for all of that, Kiwis of all walks of life were resolute and determined, determined that this was a war we could eventually win but only if we acted together." "You created a wall that meant the virus couldn't reach those people it could easily take." She said Covid-19 cases had remained low as did the infection number of those with Covid-19. "If you get a sniffle or a sore throat, get a test quickly." "Please don't be a stoic Kiwi." Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters said Level 2 from Thursday allowed a "far greater personal freedoms than under previous Alert Level settings". PM outlines Level 2 rules - 'You'll no longer need to stick to your bubble'. Last Thursday, Ms Ardern outlined the conditions of Alert Level 2. Level 2 meant most businesses can restart, bubbles can cease, domestic travel can start again and schools, tertiary institutions and early learning centres can completely reopen. Gatherings both indoors and outdoors will be limited to 100 people, home gatherings still must be kept small and hospitality establishments must require customers to be seated, separated and served by one person. Today is just under two weeks since the country moved from Alert Level 4 to 3. The country spent more than a month under strict Level 4 lockdown conditions.
