If you have travelled to Wuhan in China and aren’t feeling well, take this advice. Please call ahead to tell your doctor you have been to Wuhan so they can prepare.

Novel coronavirus
Coronaviruses are very common viruses found worldwide in humans and animals. They cause respiratory disease, including common colds. Coronaviruses, however, are also responsible for MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome) and SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome).

Masks:
.....N95 would not be needed outside medical institutions if there was no epidemic. “You can’t wear it on the streets or go to work anyway because it’s not easy to breathe with it.”

“A surgical mask is enough if people need enhanced protection in the community,” he said. “It can protect users from droplet transmission.”

MECOSS Community Networking Meetings are an opportunity for local community groups, social and health and safety providers, not-for-profit organisations and interested general public to make solid connections, learn from each other and to share and discuss ideas.

Attendees are invited to speak and inform the audience about the great things they're doing in the community. It's also a place where individuals and groups can voice their opinion and/or raise concerns about what they feel need addressing. In some circumstances, MECOSS may then act as an advocate for change through Community Networks Aotearoa (CNA); a national organisation with strong links to government.

During 2020, MECOSS meetings will be held at venues in the Pakuranga and Howick area and the Botany and Flat Bush and Ormiston area of Auckland's, Manukau East.

Next Pakuranga & Howick Community Networking Meeting:
Day and date: Friday, 21 February 2020
Time: 1:30pm - 3:00pm
Venue: Te Tuhi, 13 Reeves Road, Pakuranga

Entry: No charge
Car parking: William Roberts Road, Pakuranga

Venue: Old Flat Bush School Hall, corner Flat Bush School Road and Murphy's Road, Flat Bush
Refreshments: Tea and coffee

Increase your organisation's visibility at our meeting by becoming a 5 minute or 30 minute speaker. Please contact lindsay.upton@mecoss.org.nz to book a speaking time slot.

There is nothing worse than that sneaking suspicion that you are past your sell-by date at work. There is a point at which quirky and clueless is less fun and more embarrassing.

There really is no reason to feel this way if the issue is not being digitally literate. Digital Skills for the Workplace, offered by The Mind Lab, is fun, it really is, and it’s not a bunch of “how to” steps that you need to follow once you’re back at work and pray that it works - you actually use the tools without being aware that you are learning the tool.
You experience the impact of the skill while using it and playing so it’s already part of your DNA by the time you get back to work.

That’s a secret Mind Lab formula by the way!
And its professional development (tick that box!)

She shares “the exchange connected me with the Nisga’a people, First Nations tribal systems, communities and hauora programmes. It informed my studies and opened my mind. It was a genuine privilege to connect with the tangata whenua there, and an opportunity I would never otherwise have had”
