Macleans College principal Steven Hargreaves confirmed the students were not yet allowed to return to New Zealand due to an internal travel ban on Wuhan.
The two unrelated students studied at the east Auckland college last year, and had planned to return to their same homestay families.
It is not yet clear when they'll be allowed to leave Wuhan, however, when they do return to New Zealand, they won't be allowed back at school for a week while on the look out for flu-like symptoms.
Are you concerned about coronavirus entering New Zealand?
