Auckland Emergency Services are asking people to stay away from West Coast beach communities which are trying to recover from last week’s storm.

What you need to know:
- The affected beaches are Piha, Karekare, Bethells, Muriwai, Huia and Little Huia
- The beaches have been closed to non-residents only
- The closures are for safety and to ensure road repairs can take place

“While there is road access into Piha, it’s limited and we’re asking people not to go to Piha to go surfing or picnicking, I know we may have a fine weekend coming up but to stay away out of respect for those communities,” Duty controller Mace Ward says.

If you are wanting to check swimming conditions in other areas of Auckland, check the SwimSafe site.

Hello
I am messaging to spread the news of our very popular Howick and Kohimarama art classes especially designed for adults who would like to learn how to get started with the fascinating and absorbing pastime - creating art. Our classes have been running for 3 years in Howick and Kohimarama and hundreds of people have discovered their 'inner artist' and the joy of creativity in that time. Our classes will continue to go forward under the new name of The Village Art Classes (formerly Seasons Art Class Howick). You can join us for the full 15 week course or any of the individual 5 week modules (sketching, watercolours and acrylics). All equipment supplied, just bring yourself and enjoy.

We also offer 1-day (5 hour) workshops. The next workshop is on Thursday 2nd March and will focus on sketching and drawing.

Do phone or email me for more information, I would love to hear from you.

Calling East Aucklanders who dig a dance – there’s a free concert by Little Earle and Friends (Count Bassy and Drummer Darryn) at Howick’s Uxbridge Arts & Culture this Saturday, February 25, from midday to 2pm.
Little Earle says their set has “groovy hits and tasty obscurities” by American rhythm n’ blues and soul music artists such as Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Sam Cooke, James Brown, Bo Diddley, John Lee Hooker and Howlin’ Wolf.
“The Uxbridge Arts & Culture concert is one of a series of gigs in community centres Auckland-wide, designed for dancers of all ages,” he says.
“Thanks to the pandemic, many kids have never seen live music, and it’s not easy for older folks to make it to late-night concerts in inner-city venues.
“In response, these concerts, proudly supported by Manatu Taonga, the Ministry for Culture and Heritage, are accessible, easy-going and best of all free to the public.”
Right on, Brother, Little Earle. Cats will be swingin’ – PJ

Flooded areas

Colleen from Farm Cove

There are some potential short term solutions for flooded areas.See pics. These interlocking plastic bridges seem a better option than a pulley system across flooded areas. They are made in Canada.this one is at Angkor Wat and enables thousands of tourists to cross into this heritage site.

Hey parents/teachers/caregivers/anyone who wants to up-level their relationships!

Something exciting is happening this week!

TWO DAYS TO GO until Evolve!!! (Tickets: www.eventbrite.co.nz...)

These are the faces of the parents who joined us last year! So much JOY, EXCITEMENT and LOVE in the room.

Here is what one beautiful parent told us afterwards:
"Wow... just wow! As tired as I was, the speakers were mesmerising and I was taken to a place magical and far away, but at the same token, as if I was directly spoken to. You have all done a sterling job, and while I yet have a way to go with transitioning, I have a renewed vision and drive to get there ... but not tomorrow or next week, the change needs to be now!"

Do you wanna get to a place where you feel this yumminess in your parenting journey every day?!!!

If you're keen to join us and haven't got your ticket yet, make sure you get it soon!

Inna Neal Neal, Amy McAuley, Ross McCook and I are SO excited to be with you this Wednesday, 22nd Feb.

We are also doing a raffle with prizes including two free nights' accommodation in Whitianga!
🥰
