Onewa Road Cameras Now Active
Please be aware that the Onewa Rd transit lane cameras started issuing fines this week (from 24 May).
They are operating during the T3 periods:
* from 6:30am to 10am heading down the hill towards the city, and
* 4pm to 7pm heading up the hill towards Birkenhead.
During these hours, you could receive a $150 fine if you travel for more than 50 metres in the T3 lane when you have less than 3 people in the vehicle.
Some people have reported receiving warning letters when they did have 3 people in the car. Hopefully any issues were ironed out before fines started being issued...
Please let me know your thoughts on the cameras, and if you notice any change to general traffic, buses or driver behaviour.
Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.
Do you think this ban is reasonable?
