The lower half of Kauri Road (Off Balmain Road) was formally renamed by the Kaipatiki Local Board in April, and now the new street sign has been installed, and the street is showing correctly on Google Maps. This should hopefully solve the issues that residents were having with emergency services, couriers and visitors not being able to find their properties due to Kauri Road being split in the middle by bush.
Thanks to Local Board member Adrian Tyler for raising this issue on behalf of residents kickstarting the name-change process.
NOTE: The properties near the entrance of Soldiers Bay Place that have been using a Balmain Road address have the option to change to a Soldiers Bay Place address by contacting the Kaipātiki Local Board, or continue to use their current Balmain Road address.

Regardless of our different faiths, abilities, cultures, ages, orientations and genders - we want to make sure that our communities are safe and welcoming for all.
There are many ways to take part! From hosting a multicultural potluck or film screening to providing prevention information / resources in other languages, there are thousands of ways big and small to make our households, neighbourhoods, schools and businesses even more inclusive. It could even be as simple as learning from a neighbour how to say ‘hello’ in their first language or ensuring local footpaths are clear and accessible.
Want to share your thoughts? Let us know how you’re creating inclusive communities this month by tagging us in your social media posts or emailing us your photos, videos, or experiences to:

For the next few months, Auckland Transport will be trialling temporary measures around Glenfield Primary School, designed to reduce vehicle speeds.
The changes include a simplified road layout, kerb build-outs to slow traffic, and artwork to signal that this is a school area and slow speeds/extra care is needed. These changes have been developed in consultation with the Glenfield Primary School.
CONSTRUCTION:
The changes are being constructed overnight (7pm to 6pm) this week. During the construction period, there may be machinery noise, restrictions on parking, and traffic control in place.
TRIAL:
The trial will include:
* School zone markings, flexible bollards as well as new speed cushion pads which act as a visual cue to drivers that they are entering a slow speed area
* A new drop-off and pick-up zone inside the Glenfield Primary School carpark indicated by a purple painted kerb and signage
* Cycle lanes painted with a unique theme chosen by Glenfield Primary School which will help emphasise the presence of school children in the area
* Pedestrian wayfinding street art chosen by Glenfield Primary School to help direct the flow of foot traffic, particularly when children are arriving and leaving

The World Wild Life Fund - NZ - We desperately need and depend on organisations like this to protect our living planet and bring about change.
Their Mission Statement “We work to stop the degradation of the planet’s natural environment, by conserving the world’s biodiversity, ensuring the use of renewable natural resources is sustainable, and promoting the reduction of pollution and wasteful consumption.”
This mighty charity needs all the resources it can get to support all the incredible people on the ground doing the work. They are out there fighting for change, standing up to injustice. They challenge the devastation that self-interested, self-focused large corporations inflict on the environment and wildlife all around the world.
They need huge resources to have a huge booming voice that can get heard above the roaring noise of corporation’s cha-ching of multi-million dollar cash registers.
The World Wild Life Fund is out there in the middle of the Amazon, in the pits and mines, in the waterways, the oceans, in the deserts of nature, and in the halls of governments opposing destructive actions.
They are the mighty warriors who use action prevent, and the power of words negotiating alternatives, raising awareness to protect what is left of our natural world. They help to change the hearts and minds of people all over the world as they seek to protect through education about the world's wildlife.
This agency needs all the resources they can get as the rapid pace of destruction marches on.
I am delighted and proud to give my second 1% of sales to The World Wild Life Fund.
