Update on Normanton Reserve, Glenfield
Update on Normanton Reserve, Glenfield:
* Today the Kaipātiki Local Board gave the final sign-off for replacing the current basketball court and half-court with a new standard size basketball court and replacement of the existing skatedot with a modern version (both expected to be completed by end of June, if no delays).
* Great news that the missing drinking fountain has finally been installed!
* "Road markings" are now painted on the pathway for little bikes and scooters.
* The new green slide on the hill is currently blocked off for work, and I've requested an update on why.
* The daylighting of the underground stream at the southern end of the park is now scheduled to begin in October 2020.
Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.
