Ambulances and police officers are on the scene, as well as reports of the police Eagle helicopter in the area. Footage posted to social media shows people scrambling to get out of the mall, screaming and yelling. Police have confirmed they are at the scene, and the video's caption suggests a firearm is involved. A staffer at Lynn Mall Pharmacy says a person coming to pick up a prescription ran in and alerted them someone in the mall might have a weapon. She says they closed their shutters to keep everyone inside safe - and have been in contacted with another pharmacy in the mall which is also locking down.

THIS is a repost from the Titirangi FaceBook page that I am re-sharing - I did NOT write this, and I don't know who did. But ENJOY IT!!!!!!!! 😃

"Everyone PLEASE be careful because people are going crazy from being locked down at home!
I was just talking about this with the microwave and the toaster while drinking my coffee, and we all agreed that things are getting bad.

I didn’t mention any of this to the washing machine, because she puts a different spin on EVERYTHING!! Certainly couldn’t share with the fridge, cause he’s been acting cold and distant!

In the end, the iron straightened me out! She said the situation isn’t all that pressing and all the wrinkles will soon get ironed out!

The vacuum, however, was very unsympathetic…told me to just suck it up buttercup! But the fan was VERY optimistic and gave me hope that it will all blow over soon!

The toilet looked a bit flushed but didn’t say anything when I asked its opinion, but the front door said I was becoming unhinged and the doorknob told me to get a grip!! You can just about guess what the curtains told me: they told me to “pull myself together!”☺️

We will survive 💝"

I am working from home during Level 4 but I can still help you. Some ideas I have are:
1. collecting your groceries for you,
2. walking your dog for you,
3. or even walking with you (we can wear masks and walk 2m apart and still chat),
4. or I can just come along to your letterbox and bring my thermos of coffee and we can sit 2 m apart, with masks on, and simply chat.
I live in Blockhouse Bay but I have a car so a wee drive to you is just fine too.
Yvonne.

Confused?

To is a preposition with several meanings, including “toward” and “until.”
Too is an adverb that can mean “excessively” or “also.”

Did you know 1 in 4 New Zealand adults will suffer from a mental disorder or distress at some point in their lives? When they do, let’s make sure they don’t have to go it alone. To create safer, more caring communities we need to not only look after ourselves but those around us as well.

For the month of September, we want to come together to share ways to boost mental health and well-being. For example, you could host an online catch up or quiz, call a neighbour who lives alone, challenge your family and friends to try a new hobby or move your body more to improve your own well-being. If you or someone you know is going through a rough patch, don’t forget you can call or text 1737 anytime for free support from a trained counsellor.

Want to share your thoughts? Let us know how you’re looking out for your well-being and helping others with theirs this month by tagging us in your social media posts or emailing us your photos, videos, or experiences to: info@neighbourhoodsupport.co.nz
