Kākāpō to head home from Auckland Zoo after lengthy battle with deadly disease

Hi neighbours, kākāpō Margaret Maree has been cared for by Auckland Zoo for the past eight months after an outbreak of aspergillosis.
Now, she is well enough to go home. We got to go to her final CT scan which gave her the all clear to go back to Whenua Hou/Codfish Island.

Volcanic eruption forces Air NZ flight from Auckland to Japan to divert to Guam

A volcanic eruption has forced an Air New Zealand flight from Auckland to make an unscheduled stop in Guam.

The flight was en route to Narita, Japan, when Japan's Kuchinoerabujima volcano erupted. With the flight path changed to avoid volcanic ash, the plane had to stop in Guam to refuel.

The flight was en route to Narita, Japan, when Japan's Kuchinoerabujima volcano erupted. With the flight path changed to avoid volcanic ash, the plane had to stop in Guam to refuel.

Other flights from Japan to Auckland are also impacted, with two flights due to land this morning cancelled or rescheduled.
