The current calculation uses a percentage of net profit from the casino and associated facilities including the Sky Tower, hotel and convention centre. SKYCITY is proposing instead to use a figure based on a percentage of its casino winnings. SKYCITY states that funding under its new proposal will match historical levels.

A mother is in disbelief after her two-year-old boy was rammed with a trolley by a lady who had a problem with him having a tantrum at Kmart in Albany. When the boy's mother had her back turned, the woman also punched the child in the head, CCTV footage revealed. Police inquiries are ongoing.
