We are looking for dedicated people to support our local Scout Group.
Do you enjoy working with and supporting young people? Could you use your skills to enable them to have fun, and achieve life experience goals. Are you an adventurer or all round hero? Want to give back to your community?
We are looking for additional support with Keas and Scouts. No need to have your children in the group, you just need enthusiasm, patience and a can do attitude. No previous experience as training is provided.
Time needed: a few hrs per week working on preformed programmes. Exciting new Youth Programme coming soon.
Requirements: If you’re between 18 and the third age, you are eligible to apply. A passion for working with young people. Police checks compulsory.

Australian retail giant Kmart is to open a store in Ashburton, anchoring a new retail and food and beverage complex.
Known as River Crossing, the development will feature a large Kmart store along with up to 12 food and beverage tenancies in the mid-Canterbury town.

Australian retail giant Kmart is to open a store in Ashburton, anchoring a new retail and food and beverage complex.
Known as River Crossing, the development will feature a large Kmart store along with up to 12 food and beverage tenancies in the mid-Canterbury town.
The developer is banking that the retail development anchored by Kmart will help to stop “retail leakage” from Ashburton, about 80 kilometres south of Christchurch, whose residents often shop in Christchurch and Timaru.
Construction is due to start next year, with completion targeted for late 2022. The retail development will be built on a site next to the Countdown Ashburton South store near the eastern bank of the Ashburton River.

The grants help fund projects that promote the inclusion and contribution of older people in community life, and support communities to prepare for an ageing population.
The fund makes one-off grants of up to $15,000. The grants are open to any New Zealand council, community organisation, or registered non-profit organisation. Applications for our current funding round close on 9 October.
Our last funding round was a huge success and helped fund a range of different projects across the country, that had focuses like reducing loneliness and social isolation of older people, developing an age-friendly community plan and supporting people with dementia.
With the right planning and support, we can create environments where older people are valued, connected and able to participate in their community.
