Wellington axe-throwing company's liquor licence denied

Reporter Community News

What could have possibly gone wrong?
The risk of participants arriving already intoxicated, along with the difficulty of monitoring how many drinks were consumed on-site, was too great for the licensing Inspector.
Sweet Axe Throwing Co’s application was heard by the licensing committee three months ago, requesting the ability to serve two drinks per customer during its two-hour axe-throwing session.
Lloyd Bombell and Sarah Hilyard founded the Kent Tce business in 2018, and opened another branch in Auckland in 2019; neither locations have an alcohol licence.
Their application was rejected.
