Scott was elected as Member of Parliament for Coromandel in November 2011.
Prior to becoming a candidate in the General Election, he was CEO of the nationwide children's charity Make-A-Wish New Zealand.
He has a strong business and commercial background having previously worked as New Zealand General Manger for Protector Safety, HPM and Caroma Industries.
Scott is a 4th generation "Coromandelite" and lives in Thames.
His great grand parents arrived in Kuaotunu just north of Whitianga in the mid 1800s.
Members of his extended family still farm in the area and he has owned a home there for over 20 years.
Scott is a graduate of Auckland University, a Justice of the Peace and a member of the Institute of Directors.
He has always been active in his local community. He is a former Red Cross branch chairman and for 5 years chaired the General Distribution Committee of the Lottery Grants Board, assisting in allocating funding to worthy community groups and initiatives from all around New Zealand.
Scott has two adult children. His interests outside politics include trying to keep fit, reading and family time.
