Ewelme is a charming house museum full of intriguing items from the 19th Century and even earlier. The oldest book in this collection, left intact by the Lush family, was printed in 1653 and brought from England with Vicesemus and Blanche Lush when they came to Auckland in 1850. They had Ewelme Cottage built in 1863 so their two sons, Charles and Martin could attend the first Church of England College in Parnell. Set in a peaceful green space in Ayr St, Ewelme is an integral part of the history of Parnell and early Auckland. You can visit on Sundays between 10.30 and 4.30. There's an entry fee of just 8,50 per adult and children and Heritage New Zealand members are free.
