There were tears, whoops of joy and a life-changing payday as New Zealand’s White Ferns stormed to the top of the world with victory over South Africa in Dubai on Monday morning.

Led by a standout all-round performance from Melie Kerr who was named player of the tournament, the White Ferns beat South Africa by 32 runs in the women’s Twenty20 World Cup final.

Cambridge may not have to say goodbye to its historic water tower just yet as the council investigates a new, more affordable, way to preserve it.

However its final fate may rest on the outcome of a new detailed seismic assessment due to be completed by the end of the year.
