Red Cross Disaster Welfare Support Volunteer - Hamilton
Support your community before and during an emergency. Join your local Disaster Welfare and Support Team (DWST). Please follow link to our website for more information or to apply.
**Key Duties**
You could be deployed to assist in a flood, fire or other large-scale emergencies, and you’ll help with a range of activities that could include:
- Setting up and providing support in evacuation centers
- Undertaking needs assessments to understand what support people need
- Providing psychosocial support
**Volunteer requirements for DWST**
- 16+ Years Old
- Physically fit
- A good communicator
- Able to commit to your team for at least 12 months
- Able to pass New Zealand Police Check (support Services child/youth)
- Able to provide 2 referees for character check

Poll: Is it rude to take a full trolley to self-checkout?
Luckily self-checkout is pretty common in supermarkets these days and we generally use it to quickly buy a few things without the long lines. But perhaps it's appropriate to head there with your full trolley to skip the lines?
