SKATEBOARDING ERROR RIDDEN
The one sport among all that constitutes the 2024 Paris Olympics that sticks out like a sore thumb, is skateboarding.
Not only is it one-off being new to the Olympic Games but it is the only sport that is so error ridden that excellence and exactness is like trying to squeeze juice out of an unripe lemon.
Does skateboarding belong at the Olympics?
Probably not in its current format.
While on the Olympics, the NZ men's rugby sevens were overrated by NZ media associates with predictions of them winning the gold medal.. They were not rated in the top three or four at Paris. The problem lies not only with the head coach but that not one member of the 2024 squad would make the All Blacks 15 a side 23. If the sevens 12 lineup for Paris had what you could term fringe ABs15 a side such as Love, Lakai, Sotutu and Moorby for instance, they would have won gold two days ago.

VERGING IN ON THE VERGE
The dilemma in Levin with residents told by its Council to start mowing and maintaining the grass berms/verges associated with their properties, brings to mind the many owners and renters where I live in Wallaceville Estate who do not mow or maintain the berms/verges they are responsible for despite the newness and otherwise attractive setting of this still developing residential area.
The UHCC have long ago decreed it is not responsible for berm/verge mowing and maintenance except when the verge is not "attached" to a private property or is so big as to relate more to a road in general.
This seems to be a happy compromise though there are quite a few miserable, shoddy residents who simply let the grass and increasing array of weeds grow anyway they like.
Most verges can be mowed in a couple of minutes and with many mowers rechargeable battery-operated, the cost is little or zilch. Weeding - try lawn weed spray for a start.
