Western Suburbs Stroke Survivors meeting

Peter from Karori

Kia ora,
Our next meeting of the Western Suburbs Stroke Survivors will be on Tuesday 12th December at 10.30am at Huntleigh Home, 221 Karori Road.

To find us, go in and past Reception and turn right.

Did you know in New Zealand about 9,000 people each year have a stroke. Some 2,000 die from a stroke; about another 2,000 are left severely incapacitated, about another 2,000 have considerable disability and the rest have some disability or nearly recover. Nobody recovers completely.
It is estimated that some 50% of strokes can be avoided with life style changes.
Interested to find out what you can do to have a good chance to avoid a stroke??

We look forward to meeting all fellow stroke survivors, carers and friends and discussing how we are getting on.

Nga mihi,
Peter Macleod
Convenor

Brooklyn Community Association AGM this Sunday afternoon

Euan from Brooklyn

Hi Neighbours,
The Brooklyn Community Association (BCA) - the awesome people who operate the Brooklyn Community Centre, produce the Tattler, run the community markets, provide a recycling drop-off area for locals, provide OSCAR accredited childcare programmes, welcome our seniors weekly to our Friday Circle group, act as the local Meals on Wheels hub, and have a big hand in bringing the Brooklyn Festival to you, are having their AGM this SUNDAY at 3PM. Please come along and support the people who do so much for the wider Brooklyn community. Without the BCA Brooklyn would not be the welcoming, community oriented suburb it is and we need locals to get involved and support us. The official bit will be short and sweet, followed by afternoon tea.
Hope to see you here.

Poll: Should drivers retake the theory test every 10 years?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

Drivers get where they need to go, but sometimes it seems that we are all abiding by different road rules (for example, the varying ways drivers indicate around a roundabout).
Do you think drivers should be required to take a quick driving theory test every 10 years?

Vote in the poll and share any road rules that you've seen bent! 😱
