Have you noticed clams in the Waikato River?
An invasive clam species has been found at six points along the awa, including at Cambridge's boat ramp.
The Ministry for Primary Industries warned about the freshwater gold clams, (also known as the Asian clam).
It's not known where they came from but authorities say they could destroy native habitats, clog water supplies and hydroelectric dams, and infest Lake Taupō if not properly contained.
