DROP-IN COMPUTER HELP FOR WAIKANAE RESIDENTS

Sue from Waikanae

Good morning! At Citizens Advice Bureau we see so many Waikanae residents struggling with technology but also with transport to get to computer classes outside Waikanae, and so we are collaborating with Simon and Martine at KCDC Libraries and with the lovely volunteers at SeniorNet and the Cameo Pop-in Centre to run some computer classes in Waikanae - this coming Monday and the next to start with -

We are so excited! Please could you let people who are struggling with technology know about these drop-in sessions at the Cameo for the next couple of weeks?

If they are struggling with their computer or iPad or mobile phone Paraparaumu Library staff are coming to the Cameo Pop-in Centre on Monday 4th and Monday 11th April between 1030am and 1230pm to help so bring in your own devices or learn a bit about computers on the ones at the Cameo rooms - emails, facebook - just about anything you can think of.

These are drop-in sessions so come into Mahara Place, Waikanae (next door to the Professionals) and let us help you - ring Sue on 0275 999 823 if you want to know more.

Please pass the word around - we are aiming at residents who won't be using social media so we'll advertise on the radio and "what's on" as well, but word-of-mouth is the best of all -

Thank you so much 😊😊😊

OCTOBER'S WEATHER IN KĀPITI

Murray from Paraparaumu

This third spring month in Kāpiti was milder and sunnier than average, and for three weeks we also seemed to be heading for a record dry one, but rain here and over most of the country on the last week changed that.

We ended up with 110mm of rain (airport), but this was only 12mm above the historic average for this month that is frequently our wettest. Despite the rain, we had the equivalent of 15.5 sunny days, slightly above average.

Our daily average maximum temperature was 17.8, almost 0.4C above average and 0.7C above last year, and our overall mean temperature was 14.2C, 1.3C above last year, and the warmest in central New Zealand.

November could average around 20C, as it often does, so we can look forward to the possibility of enjoying our first summer month.

Poll: Is it rude to talk on the phone on a bus?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

Buses can be a relaxing way to get home if you have a seat and enough space. However, it can be off-putting when someone is taking a phone call next to you.

Do you think it's inconsiderate for people to have lengthy phone calls on a bus? Vote in the poll, and add your comments below.
