Recycling - hold onto it if you can (15/03/2022)
Recycling this week: store it if you can. This Wednesday is meant to be recycling of plastic, paper/cardboard, metal for wider Brooklyn. All of Wellington is affected and its likely full and comprehensive recycling will not recommence for at least several weeks. Maybe more. We have approached WCC WasteOps and they say recycling crews are still knocked over due to COVID. Over 25% of drivers and nearly 40% of the sorters in the Seaview recycling site. So if you can, please stockpile your recycling for a fortnight. Or take it down to sort at landfill recycling transfer station please. Otherwise what is put out and collected will be dumped in the landfill as they simply cannot store it to process it. We understand about 50% of Wellingtons recycling is being land filled (according to a news report on TV tonight). We appreciate this is frustrating as Wellington does try its best to recycle.
