Safety Advice After Flooding
Did the wild weather affect your property over the weekend, or the property of someone you know? 🌧
Here's our advice for returning to your property after a leak or flood:
💧 Water and electricity are a bad combination so please be very careful.
💧 If you evacuated, have your home checked by electrician before returning
💧 Do not use any household appliances or tools if they have been in floodwater, even if they seem to be dry now. Get them checked by an electrician before you use them.
💧 Do not plug heaters or dehumidifiers into multiboards. These appliances use a large amount of power and overloading multiboards can cause a fire.
💧 If you have any chemicals or hazardous substances affected by floodwater, contact your local council about how to dispose of these safely.

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?
The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
