UPDATE: Kapiti Community Foodbank - Building Fund Appeal

Maree from Waikanae Beach

PROMISING START TO BUILDING FUND APPEAL

We have had a great response so far from the public, with a total of $12,000 being donated this week.

Richard Mansell of Coastlands donated $10,000 in response to David Haxton's front page article in the Kapiti News - with the remaining $2,000 from locals digging deep.

We have received offers from builders wanting to help with the remedial works, once the building has been relocated. And our lease moved to the next stage - with legal clearance being sought.

Local MP for Otaki, Terisa Ngobi also met with the foodbank team this week to offer her support for the appeal. As a former volunteer at the Levin foodbank, she understands how vital our service is to the community.

Remember you can keep up to date with our progress by following us on facebook, as well as checking out the new signs around Kapiti.

Kapiti News will also be publishing our weekly updates.

Buses can be a relaxing way to get home if you have a seat and enough space. However, it can be off-putting when someone is taking a phone call next to you.

Do you think it's inconsiderate for people to have lengthy phone calls on a bus? Vote in the poll, and add your comments below.

Paper Shredding

James from Waikanae

I will be doing a lot of paper shredding over the next few weeks. Is there anybody who would like the shredded paper. I don't know if you can use it for hamsters and other pets, maybe it could go in your compost.

Just let me know if you want some.
