Ministry for the Environment funding announced
Big news – we’ve received $20.5 million in funding from the Ministry for the Environment. This will go towards the new collection bins and an upgrade of Te Maunga Transfer Station.
What does this mean for you?
• We’ll be able to include No 5 plastics in recycling from 1 July
• The cost of the kerbside service goes from $230 to $210 for the first year
Once the new kerbside service starts, visits to the transfer station will no longer be necessary for most of us. For that reason, as well as ongoing contamination issues, Maleme Street Transfer Station will close to the public from 2 August. This may be disappointing news for regular users, however Te Maunga will be available for all services.
