Masterton's proposed civic centre to cost $30 million
Wairarapa’s biggest town is a major step closer to replacing its earthquake-prone town hall with a proposal to build a civic centre which would include the library and archive.
Masterton District Council released images on Monday showing how the town’s new civic facility could be used by the community ahead of a meeting on Wednesday to approve the draft long-term plan consultation document.
The estimated cost of the new civic centre project is $30.8 million.

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?
The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
