Upper Hutt Blockhouse Open Day: Sat 31 October

Upper Hutt Blockhouse - Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga

Come and visit this rare surviving example of a blockhouse, built in 1860 by scared settlers in the shadow of the New Zealand Wars.

This Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga property is not open to the public often, so bring the family between 11am and 2pm (no booking required)! This is a free event, but koha is welcome.

Inside the Blockhouse there’s an exhibition from the Expressions Whirinaki Arts and Entertainment Centre, telling the early story of Upper Hutt and its Blockhouse.

Please note that there is limited parking available in Blockhouse Lane, so parking on McHardie Street, or other surrounding streets, is recommended.

You can find out more about the Blockhouse’s story and location on Heritage New Zealand’s New Zealand Heritage List/Rārangi Kōrero online: www.heritage.org.nz...

No booking required
Contact: infocentral@heritage.org.nz, 04 494 8320

Desperately seeking bottle fed calf as friend for ours.

Linda from Moonshine Valley

Hi, we have 1 very lonely calf which was abandoned by its mum. We are looking for a companion calf, still being bottle fed so our wee one isn't alone. This is urgent. Thank you.
