Investigators ask public for help in search for propeller
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is asking Ōtaki residents to help locate a propeller that is thought to have fallen off a plane moments before a fatal crash.
The yellow-tipped wooden prop is still missing after it is believed to have fallen from pilot Nigel Anthony Frderikson's amateur-built aircraft before the incident at Ōtaki Airstrip on August 17.
The propeller is believed to be somewhere near the Ōtaki township.Anyone who finds it should leave it in place and photograph it.
CAA can be contacted on isi@caa.govt.nz or 0508 472 338). Alternatively local police can be contacted.
Pictured is a propeller similar to the one sought by the CAA.
