Ads in inbox
Is “Neighbourly” really intended as a conduit for national advertising campaigns targeting your inbox? I thought it was designed for neighbours to talk to each other about neighbourhood matters, and to advertise small-scale local trade, such as garage sales and items sold from home. Now in my inbox there’s a full-on ad for a “natural knee pain relief”, with a 52-second video fronted by broadcaster Peter Williams, and a link to a website with gushing testimonials, and a photo of a white-coated, stethoscope-draped Dr Michael Girouard, M.D. , who tells you that “a topical cream is so much more direct when you’re looking for fast relief.”
Sidebar advertising is OK but a commercial in my inbox is a step too far.
