Boil water notice issued for Southbridge homes

Nicole Mathewson Reporter from The Press

Southbridge residents have been advised to boil their water after tests found E coli levels were above recommended levels.

The Selwyn District Council issued the boil water notice on Friday, saying it affects about 350 homes on the town's water supply.

All water used for drinking, brushing teeth or food preparation should be boiled before use.

Water used to make ice should also be boiled before freezing.

If you cannot boil water, it can be treated by adding 1 teaspoon of household bleach per 10 litres of water and leaving it for 30 minutes

Residents should continue to boil water until notified the notice has been lifted. It is likely to be in place for several days.

Any updates to the boil water notice will be posted online at www.selwyn.govt.nz....
