Keep New Zealand Beautiful Clean Up Week

Darren Petry from Taupō District Council

It’s almost that time of year again when people all across Aotearoa spend some time cleaning up beaches, picking up litter, removing graffiti, planting trees and much more. We also work in schools educating our future generations on how to be tidy Kiwis and protect our beautiful country.

We’re doing our bit, with events aimed at cleaning up our environment planned to coincide with the week, from September 9 – 15.

Environmental ranger Shannon Hanson has been at the forefront of organising the week’s events.

“The Keep New Zealand Beautiful Clean Up Week is always a great way to rally the community together to clean up the Taupō District,” she said.

“We can’t let all of our keen volunteers go hungry either – we’ll be serving pancakes as a thank you to those doing their bit to clean up our environment and help look after the place we love!”

These events are also part of Conservation Week 2019 - www.conservationweek.org.nz....

If you can’t make either of the below dates, we will also provide support and supplies to any schools or businesses that want to do their own clean up throughout the week, so no one misses out on being a part of this initiative.

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.

This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
Do you think NZ should follow suit? Vote in our poll and share your thoughts below.
