Not everyone trapped by alcohol is an alcoholic

Al-Anon NZ

Welcome to Al-Anon

If you are a newcomer, we welcome you and hope that you will find here the strength and support that we have found. Whether the alcoholic is still drinking or not, Al-Anon offers hope and recovery to all people affected by the alcoholism of a loved one or friend.

We suggest you attend six meetings if possible, before you decide if Al-Anon is right for you. By trying a variety of meetings in your area, you can find one that suits you.

Al-Anon meetings are held in 112 countries and our literature is available in 30 languages. There are 28,000 Al-Anon and 3,000 Alateen groups worldwide. Al-Anon Family Groups in New Zealand were established since 1954 and there are over 90 groups countrywide.

Your inquiry is confidential and anonymous. If you are concerned about someone else's drinking, we encourage you to get help. On our meetings page, you can find a meeting that is close to you, where you will meet others like you.

If you have questions, please email us: office@al-anon.org.nz

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.

This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
Do you think NZ should follow suit? Vote in our poll and share your thoughts below.
