Bank accounts been hacked / fraud / be aware.

Marie from Howick

Hi everyone just wanted to share and make people aware to be mindful when shopping / paying anything online as over the last 6 days we have just discovered that my sons bank account has been hacked and several small amounts of money have been deducted, they have tried to deducted money approx 12 times from 2 separate accounts small amounts but totaling over $700.00 had they been successful, fortunately we had blocked one of the accounts as we have misplaced the card so 8 payments they tried to deduct were blocked.
unfortunately however 4 were successful totaling over $250.00 on the other account and we only discovered the unknown payments while going over a bank statement if we have not discovered these unknown payments they would still be taking money out so thank goodness we did eventually notice that this was happening.

The card has since been cancelled and measure put in place to try to prevent this from happening again.

Now we just have to wait for a fraud team to investigate and hopefully the stolen money can be refunded and the people responsible dealt with.

I must say It’s a pretty horrible feeling when you can’t even feel that your money is safe in your bank account especially in this day an age.
