epilepsy medication

Ann from West Harbour

my son has been on phenytoin(dilantin) for just over three years. It was finally the medication the stopped his seizures. A couple of months ago the chemist told me that the company that makes it was changing the process in the way they make it. they then told me when the change occurred and to keep an eye out for any problems. Low and behold 2 weeks after the change a massive seizure happened. It was so bad that we had 3 ambulances here, the last one being the advanced paramedics that had to sedated and intubate him. He seizured for over 2 hours. he was in ICU for a few days and is still not right after nearly 2 weeks. what I want to know is why they would change a good thing when there was nothing wrong in the first place and is there anything I can do about it. I also want to warn anyone else that is on this medication. thanks
