Cossie Club supports the local community

Upper Hutt Cosmopolitan Club

The Upper Hutt Cossie Club has made grants and donations to the local community totalling over $440,000 in the last 12 months.

The principal beneficiaries were the youth of Upper Hutt with 20 local residents aged between 16-21 years receiving $2500 Kick Start Scholarships to assist them to achieve their academic, cultural and sporting aspirations. Many local schools, kindergartens and sporting clubs also received grants.

The club is now accepting applications for this year’s scholarships. For more information please contact reception@cossieclubs.org.nz.

The club’s 2018 charity the Gillies McIndoe Research Institute which specialises in cancer research received $65,000 from fundraising activities held at the club. The club also invites non-profit organisations to apply to become the club’s 2019 charity. Please contact reception. Find out more!

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?

The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.

This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
