Fashion Revolution Week!

About

Hey neighbours! Global Fashion Revolution week is coming up (April 23-29). Fashion Revolution is a movement that is focused on changing our approach to consumption of clothing and accessories, to one that is based on ethics and sustainability. The fashion industry is the second most polluting on Earth, after oil. Millions of people work in conditions that are physically and mentally devastating. Fashion Revolution is about putting pressure on companies to uphold human rights and to clean up their impact on the planet. To honour this week and raise awareness of this movement, I will be sewing fabric bags for 16 hours daily, on Trafalgar Street, outside the ex-hanafins store. I will sew from 6 am until 10 pm from the 21st until the afternoon of the 28th. There will be plenty of information on display about what I am doing. I will have certain rules to follow to try and represent conditions as closely as I realistically can. I invite you to come and check it out, buy a bag for a 2-5 dollars, and spread the word! Any cash raised will go towards covering my costs (cotton, printing, electricity) and anything above that will go to Fair Trade Nelson. Please check out the facebook event, and click 'going' or 'interested' for more info and updates. Please let me know if you would like to donate some cotton for the project, or even some cash towards the generator I will have to use...I'm a student and paying for this is no easy feat ;) Thanks for reading! Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.

This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
Do you think NZ should follow suit? Vote in our poll and share your thoughts below.
