Have you been into Christchurch city since the earthquakes? Our discussion about busses a couple of weeks ago prompted an interesting email from someone who revealed she hasn't been into the CBD since the earthquakes. I don't think she's alone, but I'd be interested to know how many people are in the same boat. Have you stayed away from the central city, either deliberately or because the transport isn't there? Why? Do you know someone who has chosen or hasn't been able to visit? Drivers get where they need to go, but sometimes it seems that we are all abiding by different road rules (for example, the varying ways drivers indicate around a roundabout).

Gerda Takes On Te Reo Maori!

This year Te Wiki o te Reo Māori, Māori Language Week, is being held from September 16 to 23. It’s an important week encouraging all of Aotearoa to use te reo Māori in everyday life. Similarly, Mahuru Māori promotes speaking and celebrating te reo throughout the month of September.

Over the last couple of years, Gerda, a resident at Diana Isaac Village in Christchurch, has grown her Māori vocabulary by attending the virtual monthly te reo Māori classes offered to Ryman residents. This group learning environment is run by Anita Gill from Te Puna Reo Māori, a Māori online learning provider.
