Fundraising for Motueka Community Pool

Sue from Motueka

The Swimming Pool fundraising group needs your help. I believe there are approximately 13,500 people living in or around Motueka. I need to receive as many supporting letters from you- the Motueka Community- as possible.

You don't need to write much, and you don't have to post a letter, you can email me sueclark40@gmail.com with an attachment letter which I will then photocopy.

Your support letter is needed to accompany our application to the Lottery Commission, Rata and other groups that help communities like ours with funds.

The pool is important because:

1. Learning to swim is imperative to prevent drowning, especially for young males who do not like to admit not being able to swim. Once they get to high school age they make excuses to miss swimming because they can't swim.

2. Young families who are financially struggling are unable to travel to Richmond for swimming lessons. We have no bus or taxi service. These children need to learn to swim.

3. It will provide entertainment for young children/teenagers as there is not much for young people to do Motueka.

4. People with back, hip and overweight problems would benefit greatly from having a local heated pool instead of having to travel to Nelson.

5. Large health benefits from swimming.

6. A heated pool here would reduce carbon emissions by way of people not having to travel to Richmond several times a week to attend exercise classes in winter.

7. A local pool for the wider community will be a great asset.

8. You could also say "I believe it is a worthwhile project for the Pool Committe to apply for funding to relevant organisaitions to upgrade the pool for community use"

PLEASE SHARE THIS REQUEST TO AS MANY GROUPS/PEOPLE AS YOU CAN. Our application is to be complete by March 17th so....send your support letters in as soon as possible.

Many thanks - with your help we can do this!
