With toys, scratching poles, treats and even a special Christmas lunch, Riley the Maine Coon cat will be spoiled again this year, his owner Anne Nicholas says.
However, he is not alone.
The Purina Fancy Feast Christmas Cat Survey found that nearly 80 per cent of New Zealand pet owners will be purchasing at least one gift for their cat this Christmas, with more than 15 per cent splashing out on three or more gifts.

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?
The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
