SeniorNet Hawke’s Bay “News Flash”
Title: “The Life and Times of An On-Line Trader”.
Bio: This presentation is not about any On Line Trader but a very special one located right here in Havelock North. The presenter who many of you will know is an absolute pioneer in on-line trading who used his knowledge as a former software businessman to develop one of the most successful on-line wine companies in New Zealand.
Come along and bring a friend to hear how John (Mac) Macpherson, owner and director of “Advintage Wines” established an incredibly successful on-line presence, when that technology was in its infancy. John was a standout presenter at the National SeniorNet Symposium held in Havelock North in 2015 where he told of the hectic times with plenty of ups and downs, back in 1999 when it all began. Where ‘Advintage’ really excelled over all others, was in sales to the provinces, where others concentrated their sales in the main centres. We thought you would enjoy this presentation as much as SeniorNet delegates from all over NZ did.
Time and date: 2 - 4 pm Saturday 15 July (Presentation, coffee and a chat).
Venue: SeniorNet Learning Centre (at Mary Doyle Complex Havelock North).
Cost: Gold coin (to defray expenses). Don’t forget, “bring a friend”

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?
The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
