A great new cycleway for Puketapapa!

Phil Goff from Phil Goff

Privilege to cut the ribbon for the opening of the Sandringham Rd Extension Cycleway in Puketapapa this morning. It links with the SH20 cycleway, which enjoyed a 16% increase in cyclists last year, and the Mt Roskill Safe routes cycleway.

If we can provide safe cycleways for students to cycle to school, we can potentially cut morning peak traffic on the roads by up to 10%. It's a concern that while most baby boomers walked or cycled to school, only 3% of secondary students cycle to school today.

Cycling lowers congestion, reduces carbon emissions and provides healthy exercise for students when rising obesity rates among our kids is a growing worry.

Poll: Should drivers retake the theory test every 10 years?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

Drivers get where they need to go, but sometimes it seems that we are all abiding by different road rules (for example, the varying ways drivers indicate around a roundabout).
Do you think drivers should be required to take a quick driving theory test every 10 years?

Vote in the poll and share any road rules that you've seen bent! 😱
