Go a set distance over one month and learn what it’s like to flee a country

The team from Red Cross Auckland

Get moving for good! Step up, get fit as we head into winter – and do your bit to help vulnerable people both at home in the New Zealand and overseas. Join the Red Cross Journey and choose to follow either the journey of a former refugee family traveling to safety across dangerous terrain, or one of our Disaster Welfare & Support Team volunteers as they train and respond to emergencies around New Zealand.

You’ll aim to cover the same distance as you learn about their challenges, sacrifices and fears along the way, and their hopes and aspirations for the future. And by fundraising over the month, you’ll be joining the Red Cross family of good people doing good things in your community and around the world.

WHEN: 8 May – 8 June 2017
WHERE: This is a ‘virtual event’. Walk or run from home to work, upstairs (without the lift!), go hiking on the weekend, pound the pavement or the treadmill, sports training, etc. and count all your steps!
HOW: On the Red Cross Journey online platform.
WEB PAGE: Red Cross Journey link attached.
SHARE: At the bottom of page the web page, are links to posters and way to share on social media.

Registration starts 20th April. Then, from 8 May, start counting your steps and have fun fundraising!

Please let me know when you decide to register and I can support you.

Poll: Should drivers retake the theory test every 10 years?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

Drivers get where they need to go, but sometimes it seems that we are all abiding by different road rules (for example, the varying ways drivers indicate around a roundabout).
Do you think drivers should be required to take a quick driving theory test every 10 years?

Vote in the poll and share any road rules that you've seen bent! 😱
