Escape with us this summer in the regional parks
Explore the regional parks and forests on your doorstep with our Greater Wellington Great Outdoors programme. We offer more than 50 events set in some of the region's most spectacular landscapes.
This year's programme has something for everyone! From young families through to people keen to explore a bit further afield, all in safe and enjoyable environments.
We've turned the heat up a notch though, with special new events such as the Battle Hill Farm Day and early morning star gazing at Whitireia Park. Many of our popular menu items are back such as Paws in the Park Summer Series, Kev the Kiwi and guided walks.
Nearly all events are within one hour's drive of Wellington city and hosted by local experts. Most events are free. You must book ahead for events with maximum numbers.
Share, invite your friends and family, and we'll see you there!

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?
The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
Do you think NZ should follow suit? Vote in our poll and share your thoughts below.
