dogs and cats in UH backyard
In a Miro Street, Upper Hutt backyard, three cats all belonging to a next door neighbour, have succumbed on different occasions to a retired racing Greyhound..
The Greyhound also has a Weimarama companion
The cat owners want the UHCC to get involved and want the Greyhound to be muzzled in his own home. You have got to be joking.
It is a sad story to have lost not one but three cats. But just what were these cats thinking by entering a territory guarded by two large fierce-resembling adult dogs.? And did the cat owners not restrict them from being outside their house after dusk as many cats tend to wander and hunt birds etc if unrestrained.
Don't believe that all Greyhounds are placid. Some are inclined to be aggressive towards small animals including dogs and cats. In recent months two Greyhounds at different times have acted aggressively towards my ultra friendly Corgi.
Cats should not be dumb. Though, like some humans and dogs, they can be nutters. My immediate previous Corgi was gentle with any animal and both wary and convivial with cats and many cats in the area I live in, knew this and some would play-up to the point of stalking my Corgi or just staying put when we passed by instead of scooting away. And some even came into our property and felt completely at ease until i or one of my family chased them off.
So generally cats know or can sense the softies from the baddies. An exception is these three cats of Miro Street.
Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?
The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
