RE: Massage Therapists and Bodyworkers Volunteer for Earthquake Relief
A group of Massage Therapists, Acupuncturists, Bowen Therapists, Reflexolgists and other Bodywork specialist and Yoga Teachers are volunteering their time to offer therapies to the recent earthquakes/tsunami warning affected people of Kaikoura, Waiau, Scargil areas or anywhere else and the Emergency services workers involved.
“We have given over 3000 free treatments to stressed, earthquake affected people and rescue workers since the first major earthquake in September 2010.” Said Marina Locke (co-ordinator, NZ Emergency Response (formerly Relief) Therapists). “It’s amazing how people pull together when there is a crisis.”
The volunteer therapists will be working at the Kaiapoi Old Mill on Ranfurly Street (look for the Little Leather entrance) on 3 December and on 10 December upstairs at the old Rangiora Hospital from 10am-3:30pm.
There are many people who are feeling the stress of the earthquakes. The therapists will use all their skills to help relieve stress symptoms which can enhance a more restful sleep.
“It isn’t the giving that empties the purse or the loving that empties the heart.”
