The Blind Foundation are extraordinary in their efforts to help those that need it.
Auckland
I am 94 and reside in a Rest Home in Orewa. I was born with no sight in my right eye and served my country at 18 o/seas for 2-1/2 years on a grade of B2 Vision in the RNZAF.
I am on my own, losing my wife and son in 1992/3 and at the moment I am survived by my daughter who sadly is gravely ill and we are not sure how much longer she will be with us. I mention this fact to show that the Blind Foundation is all I have got in support of a traumatic turn of events.
About a year ago I woke up as usual to face a new day and went to my computer to check my emails. The room that I have seemed a bit hazy but I just felt it was probably my just waking up. Sitting down at my computer I was shocked to see that I could not identify the words on the screen and then panic set in. I subsequently came under the Eye Clinic in Epsom who recommended after their treatment I get in touch with the Blind Foundation. Without a doubt it is one of the best decisions I have made in my life.
So, fellow citizens, put your heart where your pocket is and just “Givealittle” Your contribution on any amount goes directly to the Blind Foundation and I have no personal involvement on that side.
Remember as we get older each and everyone of us, possibly may experience some form of sight loss.
