The investigation follows the Education Review Office (ERO) confirming it was undertaking a “special review” of the school due to “significant concerns” about the school and its hostels.
There had also been allegations of students at the Methodist college receiving “coverings”, where they were made to cover their faces before being punched, kicked and slapped by older students.
Tim Baldwin of Oranga Tamariki confirmed a report of concern had been received and the organisation was investigating with police.

Inspector Joe Hunter, Counties Manukau South Area Commander, said police were called to the beach over Easter due to reports of two vehicles “driving dangerously”.
“The motorists’ behaviour was of particular concern to police given the beach was very busy at the time with families enjoying their long weekend.”
Karioitahi Beach is one of only two beaches in the Auckland region which is listed as a designated road, the other being Muriwai in West Auckland.

When D’Artagnan Sprengel was just nine, he had a go with a little blue Canon point-and-shoot camera, getting up close with nearby fungi.
Nearly six years later, he’s an internationally-recognised photographer, whose accolades include a commendation from the global Wildlife Photographer of the Year awards.
The 15-year-old Bombay resident’s work was recently shown alongside photographers from all over the world at an exhibition in Hamilton.
His highly-commended photograph was of a daisy, weighed down by frost and barely keeping its head up.
Sprengel says he has always loved nature. Now that he’s capturing it from behind a powerful DSLR lens – a gift for his 11th birthday – he can see things the eye cannot.
“It shows a difference perspective. Like a spider, which people don’t like, it can show that they’re awesome, they’re fluffy and cute sometimes. They are a lovely and beautiful creature.”

Sridhar Kallidai has been reading Agatha Christie’s world-famous mystery novels ever since he was a child. He and his siblings fought over who would read new copies first.
Now he is in the midst of producing a feature film adaptation of Christie’s first ever novel, The Mysterious Affair at Styles, first published in October 1916.
Kallidai and co-producer Mukhtiar Singh have reimagined it as ‘Summerville Murder’, starring Christie’s beloved Hercule Poirot – but with a twist.
The entire film is in Hindi and Poirot is reimagined as Harkishan Purohit, a genteel detective with that distinctive moustache (although Kallidai hopes Singh, playing Purohit, can grow it out a bit more).
